The First Amendment is a Declaration of Individual Liberty

TUCKER CARLSON: All prosperity in this country depends ultimately on energy. We are on the edge of a huge economic revolution, and the only way that can happen is to make energy not only more affordable, but more abundant. This revolution will bring more jobs, more prosperity, more hope. We’re all in this together.

In the world tonight, we have a new president. A new commander in chief. And a new Secretary of State. And a new head of the CIA. And three new Supreme Court Justices. And we’re in for a new era of government. And I’m part of it.

WILLIAM SHATNER: He has the opportunity to take us to places that we’ve never been, and to leave the country better off for the next generation, and to make us better, not just better informed.

TUCKER CARLSON: We’re better when we’re better informed. So why should we let our friends in government dictate what we know, what we think, what we can know with certainty? It’s time to take back our right to know.

BILL CLINTON: Our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the First Amendment, was written for free people in a free country.

TUCKER CARLSON: We’re being told that everything we want to know about government is now subject to the whims of the executive branch. So the government has an unprecedented power to decide what we know and what we do not know. The Supreme Court may have made a mistake.

BILL CLINTON: I agree with Justice Marshall. I agree with Justice Blackmun that the First Amendment is not simply a declaration of individual liberty, but is, in fact, a recognition of the fact that we are not a nation of laws, but a nation of laws.

TUCKER CARLSON: The United States is being hijacked. We’re just beginning to understand who is really in charge. The first step to bringing the government down is to bring our own government down.

BILL CLINTON: What happened, Tucker, when the Supreme Court made the mistake of considering the question of whether or not the Bill of Rights applies to government, is that it put me in this box.
